I had Ryan Powell and one other angler aboard for a half-day morning trip on August 18. The bite had been running slow, so this was the kind of morning where location, timing, and staying confident in the plan really mattered.

Not every fishing trip begins with fish biting everywhere. Some mornings require more patience, better positioning, and confidence in the areas we are working. That was the story on Ryan's trip.
I stayed focused on putting the boat where the group had the best chance for success. Once the opportunities came, Ryan and his fishing partner were ready. Seeing them with a redfish and that large black drum made the work worthwhile.
